Wonderland is currently in a period of upheaval.  While for many years each of the Corner Kingdoms operated under a tentative unease  (at best) with each other, and largely attempted to ignore that the others even existed, what is currently being experienced is quite new for the world.

The Red Queen and White Queen have long been known for their unending war with each other.  To them, it was always a mere game- fight, kill the others' husband, recall the troops, and do it all over again.  Something recently, however, has caused them both to set their sights on the other two Corner Kingdoms.  Combining their forces, the Chess Kingdoms have decided that their new aim is to conquer all of Wonderland- and they are willing to achieve it at any cost, including recruiting new Pawns from other worlds...
